Extract text and table data from your PDF and download as a CSV file that opens in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet application. Free, browser-based, no signup.
Converting PDF to Excel is one of the most requested document conversion tasks in business environments. PDFs containing financial data, invoices, reports, and tables often need to be analyzed or manipulated in Excel โ but the PDF format locks the data in place. Extraction tools read the text layer of the PDF and output it in a structured format that Excel can open.
Scanned PDFs (images of documents) do not contain selectable text โ they require OCR (optical character recognition) for extraction. Complex table layouts with merged cells or multi-column formats may require manual cleanup after extraction. For the best results with complex tables, consider using a desktop tool like Tabula or Adobe Acrobat Pro.
After downloading the .csv file, open Excel, go to File โ Open, and select the CSV file. Excel will show an import wizard โ choose "Comma" as the delimiter and click Finish. The data will appear in a spreadsheet ready for analysis, sorting, and formatting.
